About Us
BloodForce works in Ghana to eliminate the burden of blood acquisition
on providers and patients in crisis by leveraging technology to galvanize the public to increase Ghana’s Blood Collection Index to greater than 10 by 2034, because no patient in crisis should die from unavailability of blood products.
Our Story
In 2021, Marleen Amortsoo Hutchful, lost her fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Over the course of her 6-month battle, Marleen’s family experienced firsthand the challenge to find blood products for critical patients in Ghana.
To honor Marleen’s fight, her network of friends launched BloodForce to address gaps in blood product acquisition and distribution in Ghana.
The Team
Estella Hutchful
Estella Hutchful is our Executive Director, responsible for executing all aspects of BloodForce’s plan in Ghana. Estella is an accomplished international development professional with over 15 years of experience in health, social work, and communications.
Mlevin Akaba
Melvin Akaba serves on our Board of Advisors and provides finance guidance and oversight of financial functions and reporting. Melvin is an accomplished finance professional and currently leads the Corporate Finance Solutions team at Stanbic Bank in Ghana.
Shirley Boakye
Shirley Boakye Mensah serves on our Board of Advisors, providing Performance Excellence oversight and ensuring that we meet world class standards for NGO execution. Shirley is a Family and Youth Missioner, where she plays a pivotal role in nurturing spiritual growth and development of families and youth in her community.
Sabine Butler
Sabine Butler serves on our Board of Advisors and leads our Global Fundraising efforts. Sabine is a Manager and Executive Administrator overseeing business, event, financial and systems applications for University City Exchange at the Arizona State University in the US.
Obinna Chukwu
Obinna Chukwu serves on our Board of Advisors and provides Marketing and Branding guidance. A partner at Blood Interactive, Obi is a renown Marketing Leader, focused on providing Digital and Mobile marketing solutions in emerging African markets
Jeff Coker
Jeff Coker serves on our Board of Advisors and provides Operations and Execution guidance. Jeff is an Operations Executive with extensive experience leading Tech – Enabled Healthcare enterprises in the US.
Dela Fiawoo
Dr. Dela Deme Fiawoo serves on our Board of Advisors as our Medical Advisor providing clinical guidance and oversight of all BloodForce initiatives. Dr. Dela is a healthcare practitioner, specializing as a Clinical Hematologist at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, in Accra, Ghana.
Claud Hutchful
Claud Hutchful serves on our Board of Advisors and provides Strategy and Technology guidance for BloodForce. Claud is a technology visionary with over two decades of experience in FinTech, ebusiness and mobile applications. Claud is the Chief Executive Officer at Kowri.
