There is an entire hidden world to discover and you wouldn’t even know unless you recognized the signs. This is what tracking in the bush is about… being able to gather a vast amount of information about mammals, birds and reptiles without having ever seen them.

Every animal leaves some indication of its presence or passing whereby it can be recognized. Entering into this hidden world of nature, trackers and students are taught how to ‘reconstruct’ the scene and understand what could have, would have and should have happened.

In many parts of Africa, the ancient survival skills of tracking have disappeared at an alarming rate…  alarming because without these skills, humanity’s connection to the earth is significantly reduced. The time-worn skills of tracking taught human beings to live consciously with an appreciation and respect for the natural world. With urbanization and technology, much of this profound ecological intelligence is being lost at a time when it is most important to our long-term survival.
