Famed Canadian writer Margaret Atwood — author of The Handmaid’s Tale and winner of the Booker Prize for literature — will be the special guest on an Adventure Canada cruise next June along the coast of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Born in Ottawa in 1939, Atwood was raised in northern Ontario and Quebec, and has lived in Toronto since the early 1990s. She is the author of more than 40 books of fiction, poetry and critical essays including the MaddAddam Trilogy, Alias Grace, and the Booker Prize-winning novel The Blind Assassin.

The cruise itinerary includes visits to the tiny French territory of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, the historic Louisbourg fortress on Cape Breton Island, the remarkable Bay of Fundy with its world record tides, the Old Town Lunenburg UNESCO World Heritage Site, wild and wonderful Sable Island (with its wild horses and historic shipwrecks), and the Gully Marine Protected Area.
