Cheli + Peacock offers a range of experiences and adventures at Cottar’s Camp in Masai Mara including a learning encounter with female wildlife rangers, pangolin talk and predator experience. Here’s a closer look at some of the adventures from Cheli + Peacock and Cottar’s Camp:

Pangolin Talk

The Pangolin Project researches animal population and behaviors and developing strategies to better protect and secure these special creatures. Guests can meet one of the pangolin scouts to find out more about their behaviors, habitats, why they are illegally hunted and traded, and about their connection to Covid-19.

Mara Predator Project

The project provides science for cheetah and lion conservation as well as enhancing understanding on the predators’ role within the broader ecosystem. The camp offers a range of Predator Project experiences from a one-hour talk to a half-day drive with one of the project researchers.

Walks or Run with a Masai Warrior

A walk is a wonderful way to see smaller critters, appreciate plant diversity and see the wild lands at a slower pace. For the more energetic travelers, morning or evening runs can be arranged with a local Masai warrior as your guide.

Vulture Rehabilitation

Visit the only vulture rehabilitation center in the Mara and learn how this keystone species helps maintain the health and resilience of the region’s inhabitants and ecosystem. If time permits, learn about raptors in the Mara.

Female Conservation Rangers

Join the only all-female ranger unit in the Masai Mara and understand their goals and key challenges. As appropriate, participate in their daily activities patrolling, de-snaring, game-counting and liaison with the local Masai community.
