Leonor Espinosa of Leo Restaurant in Bogota was recently named the best female chef in the world…Leo ranks 46th among the best restaurants in the world and number 14th in Latin America.

Described as “a gastronomic journey through the ethnobotany of the cultures that inhabit the various Colombian biomes”, Leo offers a new narrative of Colombian gastronomy that revolves around the country’s incredible biodiversity.

Although Leo does offer al a carte dishes, the restaurant is renowned from tasting menus that feature anywhere from seven to 13 courses, complemented by fine wines, fermented drinks and innovative Colombian cocktails made with botanical ingredients typical of local cultures.

And nothing is rushed: expect two to three hours for the longer tasting menus. Plenty of time to savor the tastes, textures and aromas.

Colombian Journeys can create a personalized food journey across the South American nation that includes Espinosa’s Leo and other gastronomic highlights.
