Located on the grounds of the Enchanted Galapagos Lodge on Santa Cruz Island, El Queso Chueco artisanal cheese factory recently captured two prestigious honors: 1st place at the Cheese Cup America and 1st place among Ecuadorian cheeses at the National Cheese Fair for their Crescent Moon cheese (camembert style).
A family project led by Tatjana Angermeyer and Dustin Kinakin, El Queso Chueco (“The Crooked Cheese”) is the only aged cheese produced in Galapagos. They currently make parmesan, gruyere, vacherin and that award-winning Crescent Moon as well yogurts. Guests at the lodge can order a wine and cheese platter to enjoy beside an evening fire.
