River House Lodge Patagonia

Located on a 500-acre private estancia along the Chimehuin River, River House Lodge lies on the eastern side of the snowcapped Andes in Argentine Patagonia. 

The mythical Chimehuin is one of the most famous rivers in the world for fly fishing. Wading or floating “El Chime” is always an unforgettable experience due to the quality of its trout, the surrounding landscapes and the river’s gin clear waters. Other nearby rivers and lakes are also renowned for angling, and River House can easily put together a customized itinerary that matches the fishing expectations of each guest and season they would like to visit. 

With just six spacious ensuite rooms, River House can host up to 12 people in upscale comfort, an ideal number to maintain a warm and intimate atmosphere that enables quality service. As meals are another big part of the experience, the lodge offers a varied menu with international and regional Argentine dishes, and specially selected wines to pair with each meal. 

Around the lodge are several spots where guests can enjoy their stay to the fullest including an outside firepit, pergola, and river deck. Guests can arrange trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, birdwatching and other outdoor activities. 

River House Spa offers a wide range of wellness treatments plus a sauna with mountain views, yoga and relaxation rooms, fitness center and a hot tub with capacity for up to 10 people overlooking the Patagonian steppe.

Chapelco Golf Club is just a 20-minute drive from the lodge. The 18-hole, par 72, parkland-style course — which features deep greens, tree-flanked fairways and Andes views — was designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus and his son Jack Nicklaus II. Chapelco features a driving range, putting and chipping greens, classes and clinics, and a junior school.

Among other possibilities for lodge guests are exploring nearby national parks like Lanin, Laguna Blanca and Nahuel Huapi, or visiting Junín de los Andes and San Martin de los Andes to shop and soak up more Argentine Patagonia ambience.
