The quirky Atlas Obscura website — which deals in geographic and cultural oddities around the world — recently featured Iceland’s Thrídrangaviti Lighthouse.

Quotable quote: “A cluster of slender rock pillars jut out from the ocean’s surface like fingers stretching toward the sky, miles away from civilization. From a distance, it looks like a colorful speck has settled atop the largest one. Look closer, and you’ll see it’s a tiny red-roofed lighthouse, perhaps one of the loneliest in the world.”
