South of the wine country and north of Patagonia is another of Chile’s many magical regions, an area of big lakes, snowcapped peaks, and villages founded by German and Swiss settlers that looks a lot more like the Alps than your typical image of South America.

Landscapes of Los Lagos
3 nights/4 day
Starting from Puerto Montt on the Pacific coast, the journey heads inland to Puerto Varas, famous for its views of Lake Llanquihue and Osorno volcano. A cruise across Lake Todos Los Santos includes lunch in Peulla, a wilderness village in the middle of the Andes. The last day features Castro, capital of Chiloe island, renowned for its palafitos silt houses built over the harbor.

Awa Puerto Varas All Inclusive
Hotel Awa was born as a family dream on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. This all-inclusive program includes a private guide that helps guests create a unique program according to their level of activity and interests. Beyond hiking and horseback riding, Awa offers gastronomic activities that start in a local market or orchard and end in the hotel kitchen, as well as whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing, and scenic flights by helicopter or floatplane.
