Lasting between three and ten hours, Hotel Las Torres full- and half-day equestrian excursions give guests an opportunity to explore the mountains, forest, pampas and lakes of Las Torres del Paine on horseback rather than foot.

Our full-day guided Enchanted Valley ride includes a chance to gallop across the pampas and through the lenga forest on an equestrian adventure that follows the “O” Circuit around the eastern edge of the Paine Massif into the valley of the Rio Paine. The lenga forest of this area provides a habitat for many birds and the trail offers great views of Laguna Azul and Cerro Paine mountain before reaching the wildflower strewn Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley).

Among the half-day possibilities is a guided ride to Lago Nordenskjöld. This celebrated lake at the foot of the Paine Massif is named for Otto Nordenskjöld (1869-1928), a Finnish-Swedish explorer who roamed the Antarctic, Greenland, Chile and Peru in the early 20th century. This excursion follows a portion of the “W” trail between the lake’s north shore and Monte Almirante Nieto, the glacier and snow-covered mountain that anchors the southeastern extreme of the Paine Massif. The trek includes numerous stream crossings and a chance to ride along the rocky waterfront.

For people who haven’t spent much time in the saddle, this is a great way to become more familiar with horses and learn the basic skills of riding them. Started in our own corral and stables, Las Torres gauchos demonstrate how to ride correctly before undertaking rides or horseback excursions on the estancia lands surrounding the hotel. This is an especially good way for children to learn how to ride.
