Five Overnight Options at Torres del Paine

February 11, 2019 - 3 minutes read

When you trek Torres del Paine in Patagonia with Fantástico Sur, you have a choice of five very different overnight options. Not every night, mind you, but during the length of your stay inside South America’s most celebrated national park.

The options range from refugios (mountain huts), cabanas (cabins), domes (permanent tents) to camping and a big comfy national park lodge.

REFUGIOS

Accommodation at Fantástico Sur’s modern mountain huts is in shared, mixed dorms with bunk beds and shared bathrooms. Depending on the refugio, rooms have a capacity of 6 to 8 people.

Bedding options at the refugios include: Made Up Bed (sheets and bed cover), Simple Bed (for use with own sleeping bag), or Bed + Sleeping Bag.

Refugio rates do not include any meals, which must be purchased separately. Cooking is not permitted inside the mountain huts but is allowed at the adjoining campsites.

CAMPING

Fantástico Sur’s campgrounds feature shared bathrooms — with 24-hour hot water —exclusive for the use of campers.

If you don’t have your own camping equipment, rental tents, sleeping bags and insulation mats are available. It’s highly recommended that you reserve your equipment in advance.

Meals are available for purchase at the adjacent refugios. Cooking is allowed at all  Fantástico Sur campsites.

DOMOS

Only available at Camp El Francés, these permanent domed tents are located along the “W’ Trail near the north shore of Lake Nordenskjöld.

The three domos can accommodate 8 people each. And every one has its own bathroom. The only accommodation option is Bed + Sleeping Bag. Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner is available at the domos.

 CABAÑAS

Located along the “W” Trail at the base of Los Cuernos del Paine, the cabins are about a 4.5 hours trek from Las Torres or El Chileno. They offer spectacular views of Los Cuernos and Lake Nordenskjöld.

Overnights are available in 8 double cabins with Made Up Beds (twin beds) and shared bathrooms. Meals are served at the Refugio Los Cuernos.

HOTEL LAS TORRES

The only hotel located on the “W” Circuit, Hotel Las Torres occupies a spectacular setting at the base of the Paine Massif. Guest rooms are simply decorated in a cozy and rustic style, with amenities like central heating, wi-fi and private bathrooms with tub.

Exceptional food is on offer at the hotel’s Restaurant Coirón and drinks in the Bar Pionero. There’s also an onsite spa to get your ready for walking or help you recover after the trek. If you haven’t had enough of Torres del Paine after your hike, the hotel also offers all-inclusive outdoor adventure programs.
