What is Galapagos island hopping?

Instead of sleeping on a liveaboard cruise boat, you sleep in hotels in the different towns on the different inhabited islands of the Galapagos archipelago. You then undertake day tours to the uninhabited islands or just visit local attractions on the island you’re staying on whether it’s Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, or Isabela Island. Once you’ve done a tour or two on one island, you island hop to another and do the same.

Land-based tours are ideal for those who prefer to sleep on dry land and not a constantly moving boat. Guests have just as much opportunity to interact with wildlife as boat-based tours, visit pristine national parks like the famous tortoise reserve, tour a local farm, or go hiking, kayaking or biking while experiencing local culture.

It’s also a great way to experience life in communities like Puerto Ayora, Villamil and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. And a great way to engage in sustainable travel by contributing to the local economy.

Enchanted Expeditions offers many multiday island-hopping packages and can also customize island hopping trips to suit individual preferences and needs.
