Himalayan Cool Cats — Snow Leopard Safari

April 4, 2019 - 2 minutes read

Jungle Sutra is offering a rare chance to journey into the Himalayas in search of the elusive snow leopard and other exceptional wildlife.

The 11-day safari is scheduled for Nov. 8-18, 2019 in the Ladakh region of northern India.

Ladakh’s unique high-altitude landscapes and weather conditions — as well as its location on the edge of Central Asia and the Tibetan Plateau — gives the region an incredible diversity in wildlife.

Among the mammals who call the region home are the highly camouflaged Snow Leopard, Eurasian Lynx, Pallas Cat, Himalayan Wolf, Himalayan Fox, Ibex, Ladakh Uriel, Blue Sheep, Weasel, Marmot and the Woolly Hare.

Ladakh is also blessed with a great variety of birds. Among the region’s 225 recorded species are the Golden Eagle, Lammergeier, Yellow-billed Chough, Red-billed Chough, Eurasian Magpie, Himalayan Snowcock, Chukar Partridge, White-capped Redstart, Horned Lark, Alpine Accentor, Robin Accentor and Ibis Bill.
