Drive your own modified 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser as a part of a convoy led by an experienced guide that goes off the beaten path through some of Iceland’s most remote places.
During each day of this “guided self-driven” expedition there’s time for short hikes to experience the serenity that comes with being somewhere that is truly remote.
After arriving in Reykjavik, you’ll be fetched from the hotel and taken to the Iceland ProTravel headquarters, where a super-cool 4×4 modified vehicle await you. Your guide and the team will give you a briefing of the vehicles and the exciting program that lies ahead.
Over the next three days, the expedition explores many areas of Iceland that are less traveled in combination with must-see sites.
The first stop is Thingvellir National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by the Geysir geothermal area and spectacular Gullfoss waterfall before cruising down to the south coast for the first overnight.
Heading along the island’s south coast, the convoy stops at Reynisfjara and its dramatic black-sand beach and the village of Vík, which squeezes between Mýrdalsjökull Glacier and the North Atlantic Ocean. The journey continues the Mýrdalssandur area.
After breakfast on day three, the drive continues through remote areas and unique locations that cannot be reached by standard vehicles and slowly head back toward Reykjavik. After another adventurous day we reach the capital in the later afternoon.
