Mara Siana
Located in Kenya’s Ripoi Conservancy, Mara Siana is a small upscale safari camp in a stunning undiscovered area just outside Masai Mara National Reserve. Privacy, peace and quiet are assured at a camp with just six ensuite double tents (four kings and two twins) and a pair of family tents with two bedrooms and two bathrooms each.
Game viewing is exceptional in and around the camp. The 13,500-acre conservancy features the “Big Seven” of East African wildlife — elephants, lions, leopards, rhino, buffalo, cheetahs and African wild dogs.
In addition to morning and late afternoon game drives, Mara Siana offers guided bush walks through a landscape dappled in savannah, woodland, and grassy plains. And unlike the national reserve where night drives are forbidden, guests can venture out after dark when many of the Mara’s animals are most active. Meanwhile, the camp is well positioned for viewing the Great Migration when it swings through the region in July and August.
The camp is 50% Masai and 50% female owned. Among its directors are some of Kenya’s safari stars. Ranked as one of Africa’s top 15 guides by Conde Nast Traveler and co-star of the TV series Big Cat Tales, Jackson Looseyia was born and raised in the heart of the Masai Mara.
One of Kenya’s most experienced guides, Fred Ronko is a safari fundi who has guided in Mara for over 20 years. With a love for mature that started during his youth, Salaash Morompi loves guiding and sharing the incredible diversity of wildlife of the Masai Mara.
