Tucked away in the spectacular Great Rift Valley, Mbweha Camp is nestled up against the southern border of Lake Nakuru National Park with beautiful views over the Eburru and Mau mountain ranges.
Ten rustic lava-stone cottages with thatched roofs are surrounded by euphorbia candelabra, yellow barked acacia and other indigenous trees.
Mbweha Camp is only a few hours’ drive from Nairobi yet feels right away from it all with its relaxed atmosphere. Guests have a choice of many activities including hiking, mountain biking and night game drives.
Another possibility is a day trip into Lake Nakuru National Park — with the option of a gourmet bush lunch with spectacular views — or undertaking a birdwatching safari in Soysambu Conservancy, which is both a Ramsar important bird area and part of the Kenya Lake System World Heritage Site.
The area harbors a great variety of flora and fauna including 450 bird species and more than 50 different types of mammals. It’s home to 10% of the global population of the endangered colossus monkey, 28% of the lesser flamingos, and more than 90 highly endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.
