If you’re planning on driving yourself around Iceland this summer – on your own or via an Air and Ground combo arranged by Iceland ProCruises – then you should know about an online travel tool that will help you navigate around the island both efficiently and safely.

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) website includes up-to-date road and weather conditions (including mountain roads), tips on driving safely in Iceland, links to roadside webcams scattered around the island, and a handy map that shows road surfaces (paved or gravel), wind conditions, GPS coordinates and other road trip info.

The website also lists telephone numbers to call for current road conditions (open 8 AM to 4 PM in summer and 6:30 AM to 10 PM in winter) as well as the emergency number (dial 112).
