“All I wanted to do was get back to Africa,” wrote Ernest Hemingway in The Green Hills of Africa. “We had not left it, yet, but when I would wake in the night I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.”

Mara Siana Camp is the perfect place to get back to Africa in the 21st century.

Located in the newly formed Ripoi Conservancy, the camp lies in a stunning undiscovered area outside the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp is 50% Masai and 50% female owned. It comprises six double ensuite tents and two family tents with two bedrooms and two bathrooms each.

The conservancy’s “Big Seven” of game viewing includes three wild dog dens and a healthy cheetah population, as well as non-migrating wildebeest. On occasion, they also see striped hyena and pangolin.

Mara Siana’s veteran directors/guides have over 75 years of collective guiding/management experience. Jackson Looseyia — one of Africa’s top 15 legendary guides and co-star of Big Cat Tales — is the driving force behind the camp.
