Welcoming Back Uganda’s Flag Carrier

March 6, 2020 - 2 minutes read

As dozens of international carriers increase frequency to and from Entebbe Airport, Uganda’s national flag carrier was revived and began flying again in August 2019 for the first time since 2001.

Uganda Airlines took delivery of four CRJ900 aircraft from Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier. As a way of honoring Uganda’s natural treasures, two of the planes were named after famous national parks: 5X-KDP for Kidepo Valley National Park and5X-KNP for Kabalega National Park (the original name for Murchison Falls National Park).

Accessibility to any tourist destination can be complicated if there’s a shortage of regional carriers to link with international airlines. The revival of Uganda Airlines is already yielding good results due to direct flights to Entebbe without stopovers that tend to inconvenience travelers.

Here are their destinations as of February 2020:

  • Burundi: Bujumbura International Airport).
  • Kenya: Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Mombasa’s Moi International Airport
  • Rwanda: Kigali International Airport
  • Somali: Mogadishu International Airport
  • South Sudan: Juba International Airport
  • Tanzania: Arusha’s Kilimanjaro International Airport, Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport, and Zanzibar International Airport
  • Uganda: Entebbe International Airport (Main hub).

Uganda tour operators have requested that Uganda Airlines commence domestic flights connecting to Uganda’s national parks, which would certainly make it easier and more affordable to explore the Pearl Of Africa. Adventure Consults will keep you posted, and please feel free to get in touch for assistance and professional advice on how to get to Uganda.
