wildbeautifulplaces_coverNorthern Kenya is one of the stars of a brand new National Geographic book called Wild Beautiful Places – Picture Perfect Journeys Around the Globe.

Lavishly illustrated with National Geographic photography, the books includes a lengthy description of a region that includes several Elewana properties including Elsa’s Kopje in Meru National Park, Loisaba Tented Camp and Star Beds in the Loisaba Conservancy, Lewa Safari Camp in Lewa Conservancy, and Kitich Camp in Mathews Forest.

“Beyond Mt Kenya the terrain evolves from the forested highlands into a rust-colored wilderness that stretches more than 150 miles across northern Kenya,” reads the chapter on the region. “Traditional homeland of the Samburu people — who still decorate their hair and faces with an ocher clay that matches their earthy surroundings — this is also the place where the legendary lioness Elsa was born free.”
