Wild & Beautiful Places . . . Where Australis Goes
November 11, 2016 - 1 minute readAlberto de Agostini National Park is one of the stars of a brand new National Geographic book called Wild Beautiful Places – Picture Perfect Journeys Around the Globe.
Lavishly illustrated with National Geographic photography, the book includes a lengthy description of the national park that protects many of the landscapes that are featured in Australis’ itineraries and shore excursions in Tierra del Fuego.
“There aren’t many places left that truly look (and feel) like the Earth before mankind, but this vast reserve at the bottom end of South America exudes that kind of rugged canvas,” reads the chapter on Agostini. “A mélange of forests, glaciers and snowcapped peaks, bays, lagoons and oceanic straits, Agostini remains unspoiled and largely unexplored. And given the region’s blend of remoteness, extreme geography and harsh weather, the Chilean national park will no doubt remain that way for many generations.”
The chapter also mentions Australis as the best way to explore the park and lists September to early April (our cruising season) as the most ideal time to visit Alberto de Agostini.
