The African Climate Business Forum, Nairobi, Kenya 1-2 November 2023
IGNATIUS WILSON, Head, Sustainability & Climate Change Unit at the Bank of Ghana was a panelist on the Africa Climate Business Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, 1-2 November 2023. The IFC and the Central Bank of Kenya organized the first Africa Climate Business Forum in Nairobi. Over 300 government and business leaders from across the continent gathered in the Kenyan capital to discuss strategies to bridge Africa’s climate Finance Gap and the potential opportunities that the new climate economy presents for Africa’s industrial growth and job market.
During two days of discussions, networking, and knowledge sharing, the event delved into critical topics for pushing forward strategies to bridge Africa’s climate finance gap and the potential opportunities that the new climate economy presents for Africa’s industrial growth and job market. Panels focused on issues such as greening urbanization, decarbonizing growth, scaling finance and capital markets, building carbon markets and growing climate agribusiness. The world is facing a climate crisis, and Africa can be at the forefront of delivering sustainable and innovative solutions. I am very glad to be part at this important time as we move forward to deliver on the ideas generated. It was an energizing and productive two days.
