Who We Are
About us
KASA FIE™ is a non-profit foundation established in 2012 by Marigold Akufo-Addo, a prominent Ghanaian artist and founder of Lamra Galleries. Our mission is centred around utilizing art as a therapeutic and transformative tool to enhance the living conditions of children living with Autism and the physically challenged.
Manifesto
Our name, KASA FIE™, is derived from the Twi language, which is the foremost Akan dialect. It translates to “House of The Spoken Word” and represents the power of the arts in a safe haven where all charity begins. We believe that every child is a star, regardless of their adversity. Our goal is to secure their futures by providing a nurturing environment that embraces this ethos.
Our Approach
Art is a powerful tool that can be used to help people in many ways. Our approach combines the benefits of art with those of therapy to help these children explore their emotions, resolve conflicts, manage their behavior, reduce anxiety, boost self-esteem, and more. Our primary goal is to improve the children’s overall well-being and functioning.
We are also aware of the unique challenges faced by disadvantaged communities, including orphanages and institutions for the disabled. That’s why we go beyond traditional therapy and offer specialized assistance and solutions to meet their additional needs and problems.
Our mobile service provides support to these communities, making our services accessible to those who need them the most.
Rationale
Our initial assessments have led us to believe that a considerable number of youth with special needs and children who live in orphanages face difficulties in their academic lives.
Oftentimes, their disruptive and aggressive behaviour leads parents and caretakers to keep them away from schools. We realized that there is a significant opportunity to make a positive impact on these children’s futures by taking an active role and providing sustainable support to those who need it the most.
